hitting 82 degrees on prime 95 with an i5 2500k at 4.8ghz and 1.4v is that a reasonable temperature? yes, with a zalman cnps 10x extreme cooler it would be. dropping right away to 35-36 when stopped.

I personally think it's near the limit of what's acceptable. I'd bring it down to 4.7-4.6 and reduce the voltage slightly for everyday use.

I personally am at the very limit of what's considered okay. I'd settle around 4.7-4.6 with a slightly lower voltage for everyday use.

Yeah, it's important not to run at 1.40v on the core continuously. The 1.40v value is typically set in the BIOS settings. It may also be indicated by a program.
