Hello, I recently upgraded my graphics card from 5600x3d to 5800x3d, increasing the memory overclock from 3600mhz C16 1.45v to 3866mhz C16 1.6v. I’m checking if it’s safe to run at 1.6v on that chip, with a small fan to maintain stability. I own an Aorus Elite x570 Kingston Fury Beast 4x8GB.

The 1.6v value appears unusually high compared to other dice, except for the Samsung B-die. I'm not entirely confident about this.

Sanity threshold stays around 1.7v, djr remains stable as expected—similar to Samsung Bdie and Micron Rev E. Exceeding 1.7v might cause minor performance drops, though it’s unclear due to limited data. People report running at 1.7v without significant issues, similar to what I’ve seen. Higher voltages aren’t necessary unless you’re pushing frequencies above 4800, where djr performs well based on your setup. For speeds under 4000, 1.6v is sufficient and you shouldn’t exceed 1.5v. Don’t concentrate all voltage on the primaries; they’re not very responsive to it, especially in cas. Focus on critical timing stages like TRFC, TRRD-L/S, TRC, and TFWA for better performance. Other timing details also help, but prioritize those areas. The max voltage should be limited mainly by the memory controllers themselves—ICs that act like CPUs may degrade at certain levels, while those ignoring voltage can handle more. Temperatures still matter for stability, though they’re not the main constraint for DDR3. This applies to devices like the W3680, 3670, 980X, and similar models.
