Previously, Minecraft displayed significant lag, consuming large amounts of RAM and VRAM until the system became unresponsive. This issue appeared only in full-screen mode after switching windows. I experimented with various fixes—updating or downgrading NVIDIA drivers, changing Java versions, reducing memory from 2410 MB to 512 MB, even resetting the launcher—but none resolved it. Interestingly, other Minecraft releases didn’t show this behavior. I also tried OptiFine versions 1.14.4 and 1.17.1, which worked perfectly. Reinstalling OptiFine 1.12.2 didn’t help either. Java repair attempts via the installer failed, though it seemed to fix the problem in Release 1.12.2. The logs revealed a NullPointerException during execution, suggesting a deeper configuration issue. Despite these efforts, Minecraft functioned normally before, using only about 0.3 GB of VRAM. This pattern didn’t repeat in other versions either.
