Check for upgrade suggestions for your old gaming PC
I want to upgrade my gaming PC and am considering giving my wife mine. She doesn’t usually play the newest games, but she does enjoy them sometimes. I’m wondering if there are improvements I can make to bring it more current, or if building her a new system would be better.
A GPU is needed since it wasn't included in your list. Based on the GPU choice, the PSU might require an upgrade too. Everything else seems acceptable.
What is the age of your PSU? For passing on a RTX3070 to your wife, you should consider a 850W well-built system because of the high transient load spikes on the RTX3000 cards. Apart from that, there isn't much room for upgrades before moving to a more advanced platform.
Your present might be too much for her requirements.
You might think of making it more affordable, but why do it?
And... you don’t always get what you’re supposed to sell.
It’s nice to be grateful you have a spot for your old PC that allows you to create something new.
For AAA gaming, I'd increase the GPU's VRAM and upgrade the power supply too. It depends on your budget.
