I'm just beginning to play Dragon Age Inquisition today, and I'm frustrated because I have to hold the mouse button down to reveal items. It's strange that this isn't the standard way in most first-person and third-person games—99.9% of them handle it differently. If you're looking for a workaround, I'd be happy to share some ideas. Feel free to suggest any options! Thanks ahead!

Yes, you need to click to proceed with freecam. Are you sure?

It seems those earlier Dragon Age games had a similar vibe too. I hadn't played the older ones before, so I wasn't aware of this. I assumed Dragon Age: Inquisition was impressive, so I bought it, but ended up being let down.

That's just a common observation. Every MMO feels similar.

Often you can test this out—it's completely free. You can create profiles for each game, keeping things local instead of global. Simulated key or mouse actions can be linked to other controls. This program really helped with Dark Souls 2 using the mouse and keyboard. It was an impressive set of hotkey combinations I'd never seen before in a game. I also tried it in SWTOR; at launch, the engine blocked rebinding mouse scroll up/down to hotkeys. It worked well in WoW too, letting me place keys freely on my bar and saving profiles for each class in the arena. http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMous...ontrol.htm

It was a disappointment. I tried the game on console and enjoyed it. I recall having at least some control over the camera without needing to do much.

Wow, I learned that combat was similar to mom's style. I didn't realize the camera was also involved.

In my view, using a controller enhances the experience, though I usually rely on mouse and keyboard in most titles. For Inquisition, I play with an Xbox One controller connected via micro USB—it feels smoother and more responsive, especially for character control. The main drawback is that you can only use one input method at a time, requiring a menu exit to switch between them. This also takes away keyboard and mouse functionality while in controller mode.
