Hello everyone. I recently acquired a used ASUS PRIME B450-PLUS Rev. 1.02 board. After testing it with standard CPU/RAM/GPU, it powers on but shows no image display. The processor appears to heat up slightly normally. Only the ambient orange lighting activates, and there’s no sound coming through the beeper. I examined it under a microscope—no dust, paste, or visible damage. It seems a BIOS update might have gone wrong, though I can’t confirm without checking removable chips. What should I inspect further before discarding it? TL;DR: The board boots up but lacks visual output, sound, and heat. Possible causes include a faulty BIOS update. What next steps should I consider?
Tested using two distinct GPUs connected to the monitor via the GPU. No integrated CPU available. Experimented with two sets of reliable DDR4 RAM at various speeds, all compatible with other boards I own. I’ll assume removing the GPU might resolve the issue. Checking for beeps or signals now. Edit: no response detected.
Test the board without RAM and check if a faulty BIOS from an incorrect update triggers a beep. Most modern boards have the BIOS chip soldered directly onto the motherboard, often near the CMOS battery. You can use a SPI programmer with a test clip to connect and reprogram the BIOS manually. Apologies for the delayed response. It does emit a beep without RAM. I’ll review the manuals and try the BIOS reflash at home. Thanks. Also, note that after running it for some time the CPU warms up as expected, so the problem likely isn’t with the socket.
I get it, just acknowledging it's a positive sign is enough. Thanks to everyone for your support!
