Searching for a Gigabyte AORUS z390 Elite at a reduced price. Considering whether the latest motherboards still work with i9 9900K and allow future upgrades.
You're curious about moving up from a 9900K, but the Z490 chipset is limited to CPUs from the 10th and 11th generation. The 8th and 9th generation Intel chips only fit in 300 series boards.
Right now I'm not sure but I need a new phone. Just thinking about it ahead of time.
The 9900K remains a solid chip and should still function well for several more years. I upgraded to a 12600K simply because I chose to, not out of necessity.
