I need a Ryzen 7 3700X but have limited funds. Can I consider a budget build using a B450 motherboard?

You're good if you're not aiming for heavy overclocking, but I'd consider pushing it a bit higher with a B450 Gaming plus Max or Tomahawk Max.

Consider spending the extra $15 on the B450 gaming plus max. You'll be glad you did. This setup can reach its full potential on a 3700x with 1.3v p95, which is close to the safe limit for a 1.325v load. Just avoid using it in a case with poor airflow, particularly during overclocking.

I understand you're aware that overclocking often happens mainly with the pro-vdh. However, many folks looking at a budget motherboard usually don't invest much in high-quality cases or fans for better cooling.

It remains functional even with minimal airflow, thanks to the identical VRM setup as the tomahawk, and it supports up to 3900x overclocking.
