Hello everyone, I'm considering upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and am curious if Steam or original game files can work across versions. Since I live in Australia, I'd prefer not to wait weeks for downloads and instead copy the games directly to my new system. If anyone has experience with this, it would be really helpful.

I believe there’s no issue at all. I haven’t used Win8 recently, so I’m not familiar with the interface, but it should function perfectly.

Move Origin Games and Steamapps directories to another location. Transfer them similarly to how you save files elsewhere. Then restart Steam/Origin, wait 30-60 seconds for setup, close the app, copy the game folders one by one at your convenience, and restart again. Files should restore quickly once everything is back in place.

The issue is resolved by using a separate Steam/Origin drive. After reinstalling, restart the game to ensure everything functions properly.
