Hey! I was thinking about buying a new motherboard and upgrading my CPU from the Ryzen 5 3600 to Zen 3. With the announcement of Zen 3, I’m really interested in getting one of those new processors. I was considering the ASUS Prime X570-Pro, but I’m not sure if the latest 5000 series will work with it. Let me know!

It's the B450/x470 model, currently stuck in a holding pattern.

What is the purpose behind the new CPU upgrade? What are the objectives of improving it? Which GPU model are you currently using?

Great, finding those boards can be tough. You're looking for white or white-accented motherboards for next-gen gear, covering everything from editing to gaming. Thanks! Nice to hear you have an RTX 2060 Super.

If you're considering a 3600, I'd hold off for a while—either a generation or two. First, it's impressive, even compared to the 5000 series. Second, since you plan to upgrade frequently, the next Ryzen release will likely come with a new socket. That means a fresh CPU, motherboard, and possibly RAM. Save your budget or invest in a new GPU now. The GPU upgrade will provide more value.

It's a solid point you're making. If you're using powerful cores, that will definitely help. Extra cores won't change much, but they do matter. I'm in agreement. For someone who mostly plays games, a better GPU will be more important. If it's mainly for video and photos, cores still play a role.
