Hello !! You're facing a few issues with your new Ryzen 5 5600 installation. It seems Windows isn't booting properly, and the fans are making a lot of noise during startup. After switching back to your older CPU, everything worked fine. You mentioned checking the thermal paste and finding no debris, which is good. Could it be that a BIOS update on your motherboard would help? Your other thought is about cleaning the thermal paste thoroughly. What do others say? Should you just update the BIOS first before installing the new CPU? Thank you!!

It’s highly probable you’ll need to install a BIOS update. Only the latest BIOS versions are compatible with the 5600, and if you’re using the original BIOS from the board, it’s likely several years old for this model.

For the 5000 series CPU, ensure your BIOS is version 3211 or newer to function properly on that motherboard. You can obtain the BIOS from the provided link. If you require assistance with the update, feel free to ask and I’ll guide you through it. Check your BIOS settings first using a 2600 to confirm if your current version matches or exceeds 3211. If it’s older, you’ll need to update accordingly.

I might attempt it, but the guidelines are in your motherboard manual and will be more precise than I can offer. If you prefer not to consider it, simply obtain the newest release. Any changes after 3211 may affect performance slightly if you're interested in testing alternatives, though the latest version is typically sufficient. Download the update, extract it onto a FAT32 flash drive, insert it into the BIOS, navigate to the BIOS update section (usually under Advanced mode), and select the update option. For clarity, refer to ASUS's manual if you need more accurate instructions.
