Cheaters and hackers in online games on PC
Cheaters and hackers in online games on PC
I'm not convinced they're making the effort they seem capable of. They could hire a cybersecurity company instead. This justification definitely doesn't work for 2K Games. The PC edition of NBA 2K should be just as free from cheaters as the console version. What's the reason behind it? The high number of cheaters in NBA 2K18 was the main reason I didn't bother with versions 19 and 20.
Since you have full access to all files on the PC, when the PC version of GTA San Andreas launched they realized how to activate every piece of code Rockstar left behind, which resulted in the Hot Coffee mod. Once installed on a PC you gain complete access to nearly everything. If someone tries to investigate further, things can go wrong. They have no effective protection against this, apart from what was previously discussed. Using an Always Online DRM system essentially ruined the customer experience, similar to what EA did for Sim City.
There’s no feasible method to hide data loss prevention codes or rigidly enforce access restrictions that would prevent customers from accessing specific files. This is essentially the purpose of DRM.
Due to DRM restrictions on DVDs and Bluray movies, many users stop copying them. /s This usually happens when a company uses strict DRM, either losing enough customers or facing cracks. It’s not profitable for them. The most effective approach is to identify cheaters in online games and block them without giving any leniency.
The detection of cheaters relies on specific methods, and whether someone is reported often influences the process.
I'm not entirely sure, but I just know it happens. With VAC I'm pretty confident it spots the cheaters and eventually they get banned. They don't ban them immediately; instead, it makes it look like you got away with it and then you're banned.
Well at least there is something out there developers can use. This needs to be in NBA 2K games asap. The cheating in those games are god awful, ruins the entire experience.
VAC is Valve Anti-Cheat. It's exclusively used by Valve Games. Developers can create their own solutions, but it requires financial investment that they might be unwilling to incur.
Many of these games employ anti-cheat systems, yet a continuous conflict exists between developers and hackers. Additionally, most of these titles benefit financially from cheaters, since banning players often leads to them buying the game elsewhere and continuing their cheating activities.
