I began watching a YouTube channel named "Vr-makeUmove" where he plays beatsabers. Now I really wish to try this game. But I don’t have enough money for a proper VR setup. My computer can run VR games, though. I also know about a program called Trinus that lets your phone act as a VR headset for computers and even mimics the Vive headset. However, it doesn’t support the controllers for sabers. Could there be a way to modify a controller myself? I’m okay with getting technical using an Arduino and some motion trackers. I just want something affordable and functional, not the best experience.

I've used riftcat before—it's meant to turn your phone into a VR headset, but honestly, it's not worth it. It's really frustrating. I can tell you, nothing in VR is much better than feeling like you're vomiting, experiencing motion sickness, and dealing with artifacts at 240p.

that's fine, I don't get motion sickness. Like at all. And I was planning on using trinus vr. And I know that it already works fine. Although getting it to pair with the phone is a bit of a pain. Anyways, I'm looking for something that can emulate the vive's controller without me having to pay $200.

I just had an idea. Some Wii motes with the Wii motion plus extension would fit well. I’d like it to integrate with the dolphinbar, but connecting those sticks directly to the computer via Bluetooth caused firmware issues before. (Creating an API that makes the Wii mouse look like a vive controller would be great.)
