I'm looking at an R5 2600 that's already stocked with 8GB RAM in dual-channel mode. You're thinking about moving to quad-channel at 2400MHz—would that help more than keeping it at 3200MHz? Also, which 16GB configuration would give you the best performance?
AM4 doesn't support quad channel. Running four sticks together or two sticks at the same frequency will give similar results. Most often, two sticks at 3200MHz perform better than four sticks at 2400MHz. This means two sticks can offer more memory overclocking potential.
The system can't handle Quad Channel, making it function more like it should. Two modules provide space for future growth, which is ideal.
