Hi, I need more processing units on my CPU to boost productivity. I visited Lenovo’s site, updated the BIOS manually, but when I tried installing the new chip the system won’t start. Friends and the forum said Lenovo didn’t release microcode for the 14th generation CPUs. My only choice is returning the CPU and buying a new machine. I’m looking for any alternative ways to update my BIOS with the latest support, even if Lenovo hasn’t provided an official fix. Here are my current specs: i7-12700 RTX 3060, 64GB RAM (more installed), 1TB HDD, 512GB SSD.

This change won't occur. Updating a current bios on a significant OEM is practically unfeasible unless done by the manufacturer themselves.

This often leads to problems since non-standard motherboards may not work properly. There’s little chance of fixing it once the hardware isn’t compatible with the latest system requirements.

If you're open to exchanging or reselling, I'd consider an i9-12900k if your setup can handle it. It features 8 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores. I own one and it performs well, but it requires additional cooling compared to the i7 model you have.

It's likely you upgraded for better performance, but adding four extra cores might not be worthwhile. You might consider swapping in the 14th generation CPU and saving for a new build instead. Thanks!
