Hello everyone, Here are my current PC details: CPU 5600X, Motherboard Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite, RAM 32GB (8x4), GPU 3060 Ti, PSU 650W, Monitor 1440p at 144Hz. I've used this setup well since 2018, swapping and upgrading CPUs over the years. Looking ahead, I'm weighing whether to upgrade my CPU for the 5800X3D—provided it's still in stock and a graphics card is available when new mid-range cards hit the market—or to wait and save for a fresh build on newer platforms. Mostly gaming and light work, but I want to maximize graphics performance and FPS, especially in single-player titles. I'm trying to see if going upgrade path will leave me behind in future tech or if I can still enjoy solid performance without it. Thanks in advance!

Remember that while high frame rates are appealing and improve smoothness, simply boosting FPS won’t always add value unless you’re already running at maximum settings. Even then, changing settings from High to Ultra often doesn’t show a difference in some games.

It's accurate and I'm focusing on consistent performance. I'm not pushing myself beyond the limits, using medium to high settings to maintain stability and reduce frame drops. With the 5800x3d card, I expect a noticeable improvement in overall smoothness.

Relies on the specific titles and how effectively the 3D V-Cache is used. I’d prioritize a GPU upgrade to 1440p with high refresh rate and single-player titles if you’re unsatisfied with the performance and frame rate. I saw a noticeable improvement in low frames when switching from 5950x to 5800x 3D, but most of my games benefit from the 3D V-Cache without GPU limitations. Other titles don’t show much difference for me.

I’ve thought about it too. Playing many Paradox strategy games has been tough on my lungs—especially Victoria 3. Would boosting to 5800x3d help in those situations?
