I'm using a Z390 board and cooling it with a Noctua U12 S. I haven't run into any problems, but I don't play games much. Since I spend a lot of time on financial analysis and programming, my system probably handles stress better than a gamer's setup. If you're a gamer, the D156 with split heat sinks and two fans could work well.
NH-D15 stands out as the top choice for cooling, but it may need some motherboard adjustments. there is an m.2 slot there which i don't use so it should fit. i was kind of hoping to have the outer fan toward the front of the case but, having toward the top of the case will have to do. i do game
