My setup runs on a Dell Precision T5610 with a Samsung SATA SSD booted into Windows 8.1 via BIOS. The BIOS also allows UEFI support, but I’m not sure if switching would help. Since I don’t want to reinstall everything, can the SSD installation be adjusted to work with UEFI instead of BIOS?

UEFI offers advantages, but the cost of changing isn’t worth it. I’d skip it entirely—it won’t speed things up.

You can upgrade your installation from legacy to UEFI with a few methods, though expect only a slight improvement in boot time. If you don’t have access to another machine, the process could become even more challenging. It involves reducing the partition, changing from MBR to GPT, and setting up new UEFI partitions for the system. Personally, this isn’t worth your effort.

I own 15 systems (though I'm not a heavy user, just kidding!). As you know, and others have said, trimming the second or two from the 5-second boot isn't worth it. Thanks for understanding!
