I’m changing from an AMD AM3+ CPU to an Intel 1150 chip. My SSD already has Windows installed. I’m unsure what steps I should take to keep Windows and drivers working smoothly after the switch. I think formatting the drive isn’t necessary, but I need guidance on bridging the transition without issues. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

No need to reinstall Windows, since I upgraded from AM3+ to LGA 1155. Just install the motherboard drivers and your graphics card drivers, plus any other expansion card drivers you need. It’s very simple.

It might vary based on the motherboard, not just the operating system or processor.

Consider removing AMD drivers before switching to avoid confusion. Once LAN is stable, you can search for them using suitable tools.

In that scenario, working with ASUS is quite straightforward

I just install drivers for all your devices and save them on a USB stick together with your new motherboard updates. The simplest method.

Start by launching Intel's setup. Remove any Amd software. After that, reinstall using the flash drive. It should be straightforward.

Before removing your AMD board, save your Intel drivers, graphics drivers, and any other required ones to a flash drive. Then install your new motherboard and CPU, start it up, connect the flash drive, and apply the fresh drivers.

Make sure AHCI is turned on. I’m not sure which devices you have, but I remember on my Am3+ I had to enable AHCI manually.
