Hi. Synology AC2600 Router how do i change the MAC address? I was doing this on a linksys router just by "cloning" it and hitting save. Now it seems there is more options on the synology admin and it says operation error when i click "ok". I'm a network noob. I just need to change the mac address so that i get a new public ip. Thanks for the help

It’s likely to be questioned, so I’ll take charge—why would you require a fresh IP address? Creating MAC addresses by chance isn’t usually advisable.

Occasionally I get blocked on my server because of my weak beginner skills. If I could switch my public IP address, it would help things go faster.

The issue persists even when entering the router's real MAC address. It suggests the system checks for additional parameters or performs a verification process to confirm the MAC address's authenticity.

The "clone" feature duplicates the original device accurately. It generates the specified MAC address automatically. In the Wi-Fi status section, you notice two additional unique MAC addresses present.

It’s a good question, but cloning a MAC address would likely block the connection from the router. Since I haven’t used this before, I think leaving it for someone more experienced would be wise. It seems like a simple thing to check, but it might not be obvious. You could try altering the last digit and see if that resolves the issue. It’s probably unlikely you’ll find another device on the network with a nearly identical MAC address. It’s frustrating that the system doesn’t provide detailed feedback to help you troubleshoot.

Sure, I get it. I attempted to modify just the final digit again, but the issue persists. Appreciate your patience.

I sent an email to Synology regarding remote access to the router. What are your thoughts on this?
