Hello, I'm here with my new Windows 10 laptop (still unactivated). My question is: how can I remove all the malware protection so Microsoft doesn't collect much data? I think I should be using Windows 10 Home, but maybe it's Pro too—any advice for both would be great. Thanks!

When using Chrome, it may collect data or track activity. Edge is developed by Microsoft, along with your internet service provider and other services. https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/

I understand there are many threats beyond MS, but my main worry is the volume of traffic. I don’t want to completely cut off all data from the mobile network—I need a hotspot urgently or prefer being on that network at home. Also, please know I was hoping for some apps, but this one looks suspicious.

Consider configuring Wi-Fi as a quota network so the router manages data usage, preventing large file transfers or downloads.
