There isn’t a built-in method or utility that lets you rename a drive within a DMG in macOS. The disk utility doesn’t support this feature by design, so you can’t simply change the name and have it applied automatically.

I found a method that works. First secure the DMG. Then right-click the drive in Disk Utility and choose "Image from <NAME>". Adjust the format to "read/write" and save. Next, mount the updated DMG. After that, rename it in Disk Utility and unmount to finalize. If you wish to retain read-only access, repeat steps 1 through 3 while maintaining the "read only" setting.
