I was playing No Man's Sky and noticed frequent stuttering and lag. The game usually runs at 75 fps on my monitor, but drops to just 9 fps or lower in isolated moments. This only occurs with specific titles. Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 work well, but No Man's Sky and Helldivers 2 are problematic. I've lowered the graphics settings to the minimum. The game is using my SSD and not an HDD. Any suggestions for resolving this?

PC specs: upgraded Lenovo prebuilt OS Windows 10 Home 22H2
CPU: Intel Core i5-7400
RAM: 16GB DDR4-2400
Motherboard: Proprietary Lenovo H170
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER (drivers updated)
Storage: 1TB Samsung 860 Evo (boot), 4TB Seagate Ironwolf NAS (storage)
PSU: Proprietary 500W Lenovo power supply

I wonder if the CPU is being pushed too hard. Single-thread performance is similar to the Steam Deck, but multi-threaded speeds are about 80% slower, which might significantly impact these games. This issue arises when specifications are vague, like saying "Minimum Requirements Intel Core i3." A current i3 could be roughly 75% faster in single-thread and more than double as fast multi-threaded compared to an i5. For a rough idea, check this comparison: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/292...l-i3-14100

You don’t have enough CPU threads. It’s time to upgrade.
