Hello everyone, I've faced several issues with my new PC right after setup. When I powered it on, I updated the BIOS for my X670E Hero board (version 1415). Then I installed Windows 11 Home and downloaded the latest Nvidia GPU drivers for the RTX 4090. After switching to safe mode, I reinstalled the drivers using DDU and finally applied the newest ones once I returned to normal Windows.
I added all my preferred software, drivers from the motherboard maker, and some games. Initially, I encountered stuttering in games, which turned out to be caused by LightingService.exe from Armoury Crate. Closing that process resolved the problem.
Next, I tried enabling EXPO in BIOS, but upon saving and exiting, the system would freeze with a spinning logo before launching Windows. Eventually, after about two minutes, logging in succeeded, though the PC would freeze again and sometimes trigger a BSOD. Restarting helped, but even then, freezing occurred occasionally.
I checked HWInfo64 and confirmed the RAM was at 6000Mhz, which meant EXPO was functioning properly despite the freezing. This inconsistency made me puzzled about why the system would crash or freeze intermittently.
My PC would become unresponsive during boot, with the logo hanging before Windows loaded, and I couldn’t always reach the restart option—sometimes I had to use the power button on the case. Additionally, I changed the DPI of my wireless mouse in BIOS without pressing it, which affected performance.
While gaming, my CPU temperatures for the 7800X3D were unusually high compared to others I've seen online. I remounted the AIO coolers and applied better thermal paste, but temperatures stayed between 50–60°C at idle, spiking to 70–80°C during games and reaching 89°C with Cinebench R23. After reapplying paste, temperatures didn’t drop much, and instability persisted even after BIOS tweaks.
Today I reinstalled Windows again, which stopped freezing after saving BIOS settings, but now I face new problems: CPU usage in Task Manager is extremely high, and System Interrupts are constantly fluctuating between 0.1% and 27% even when idle. Restarting brings temps down to a more normal range (around 1–2%), but the instability remains.
I’m frustrated because changing BIOS settings seems to cause freezing during startup, leading to crashes or BSODs. I’d appreciate advice on resolving this and any steps to improve stability and temperatures. Thanks for your help!
Case: Corsair Crystal Series 570X Motherboard paired with ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero CPU, Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor. GPU is ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4090 OC. RAM includes 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair Dominator Platinum at 6000Mhz. NVMe storage uses Samsung 990 Pro 2TB. Intel 760p 2TB HDD paired with a 4TB Seagate Barracuda drive. Power supply is ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Aura Edition with NZXT Kraken Elite 240 and six Corsair QL120 fans (three intake, three exhaust).
I've had the same exact issue, but with back 4 months ago, it happened even with stock settings everywhere: CPU: Ryzen 5 7600 Motherboard : AsRock B650M PG Riptide RAM: 32GB (2x16) Corsair Vengeance 5600 CL36 Did you solve the issue? At the time I returned the Motherboard and CPU and delayed my upgrade, but kept the RAM. Now I'm resuming the upgrade but am afraid the RAM could be the cause of the problem. I'm still waiting for all the new parts to arrive.
