These are 100-foot cables. Definitely if you run a large business with a big building, Cat 5e might be practical for shorter distances. CAT 5e is likely to become outdated soon, which is surprising since it's still available on the market.

It's a copper cable that satisfies most consumer and business requirements for LAN networks on client machines. Not everyone uses more than 1 gigabit per client. Down the line, we hosted over 120 clients with Cat 5e cabling. The only exceptions were when we switched to fiber on the WAN link. The only rare instance I saw a Cat 6 near a server is now doubtful, as a Gbic card for the server and direct fiber connection are now feasible.
