Hello everyone, I’ve upgraded my CPU, RAM, MOBO and CPU cooler. As a result, I passed on my old equipment to my younger sibling. Here’s what she received: - Intel 8700K (CPU)
- G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3000MHZ 8GB x2 (RAM)
- MSI z370 Gaming Pro Carbon (MOBO)
- Cpoler Matser MasterAIr MA610P (CPU cooler)
Her previous specs were: Before the RTX3080 upgrade, she had an AMD RX 5700XT GPU. She’s using an LC6550GP2 550w PSU, a 120GB SSD, a 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD (not yet initialized), and a 1TB HDD. Windows is installed on the 120GB SSD.
The problem is: No post. It boots, everything lights up (cooler, motherboard, GPU, RAM RGB, case fans). All fans spin except the GPU fans, which have a built-in silence mode. When connected to the monitor, the light turns orange then white indicating connection, but it quickly switches back to orange and the monitor goes to sleep. The monitor works with my PC. The motherboard shows a red light on the DRAM indicator.
Additional notes:
- Thermal paste was applied.
- The system previously ran a 4th gen i5 CPU and a GTX960.
- The case is compact, and the new parts fit snugly. (Photo: GPU removed for clarity.)
- The motherboard is secured on the case using stand-off hex screws.
- All components functioned well on my machine.
- RAM sticks appear fine (see photos) and the RGB lights up during boot.
- The PSU has a 550W rating but comes from a Noname brand without Bronze certification.
Her system operated perfectly with the Intel 4th gen CPU and the AMD RX 5700XT GPU. I plan to take all components out and build a cardboard bench outside the case. I’d appreciate your insights on possible fixes and troubleshooting steps. I have my own machine for comparison, so I can test things firsthand. Thanks for your support!
