Hi, I'm trying to record gameplay using a two PC setup—one for playing and one for recording. I connect my monitor through DisplayPort and send the signal to the capture card via HDMI. The capture card works fine when connected from the laptop, but it doesn't work at all when connected from the desktop. I also tried the opposite setup: connecting the laptop's HDMI to the capture card, which is working well on the desktop. What might I be missing? Thanks.

Connect your PC to an AverMedia using HDMI, and link the AverMedia output to a monitor via HDMI.

The results from your desktop's GPU must be sent to the capture card's input, and subsequently the output from the capture cards needs to be directed to the display, as specified in your user manual (or the datasheet for that case).

But since I use a displayport to connect to the monitor, it seems unavoidable. I thought maybe I could transmit both signals at once—one through displayport and another via HDMI to the AV receiver, but I probably can't.

Is the avermedia card listed in the display settings as a secondary monitor? Should the gaming monitor be copied to the avermedia monitor?

It doesn't appear to work, but I believe an Elgato would be necessary since it functions with this setup.
