Hey there, I see you're planning to upgrade your Lenovo Y540 17IRH laptop. Based on what you've shared, the maximum capacity it can support isn't clearly stated in official sources. Some online listings mention up to 32GB, but that's not confirmed by Lenovo or verified retailers. It might be worth checking recent user experiences or forums to see if others have done the upgrade and what results they got. Let me know if you need help finding reliable information!

The 4GB is already fixed onto the motherboard, leaving you with an extra 4GB built-in. You won’t reach exactly 32GB, but you can add a single 16GB or 32GB module, bringing your total to 20GB or 36GB.

Confirming the details: the device features two memory slots and can accommodate up to 32 GB. You can verify this using Task Manager and CPU-Z to see the available sockets and existing components.

The video shows that both devices share the same motherboard model LNVNB161216. It seems some budget laptops use a single slot that gets soldered in, while others might have multiple slots. To confirm, just take off the back cover—what you see in the video appears to be a straightforward procedure.

They usually do it. It looks like you'll encounter mixed data when looking up the motherboard for that notebook model. I've even seen claims about 32 GB per socket, which I think is accurate. It would be wise for the OP to check their specific setup further before making a decision.

Thanks for your input. The laptop you opened has two RAM slots, which likely supports a 32GB configuration. I assume the video from @SupaKomputa is accurate. Please share the link you referenced for confirmation.

Hello! I found this discussion while trying to check if my Lenonvo budget laptop with the LNVNB161216 mainboard can accommodate a 32GB stick. As noted in the thread, I have a soldered 4GB memory chip and am curious if I can upgrade to 20GB or 36GB (16GB or 32GB). Could you let me know if someone has successfully installed a larger stick on this model? Looking forward to your thoughts and any helpful advice! Thanks!
