can't take a window off the screen
I hover over the icon and see "search". I think it was an email app called Mailbird that I used long ago but have since removed. When I right-click on it, nothing happens. Also, I can't find it listed anywhere in my taskbar options.
Try this guide; Here is how to rebuild the icon cache on your computer. This step clears and resets the cache for your account in Windows 10 or 11, so you can quickly see file icons without having to manually scan and slow load them again... go to www.elevenforum.com and see if that helps.
Try turning off your computer completely and see if that makes any difference. Just follow the steps in the link, don't turn off other Microsoft things, or Windows won't start at all. That page says how to do a clean boot in Windows. It doesn't wipe anything out, it just stops some apps from starting up on their own. You can easily go back and fix it if you have to. If it still works after you restart your computer several times, maybe the problem is with a program that starts up first. You could try running a command line tool here to remove Mailbird, because it might be the leftover cause of the issue.
Click Start then Run and paste this into the special box at your computer's home folder: %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar It will make a new folder on your desktop. Do you see a Search icon inside? If yes, delete that icon (leave it in the trash for a few days) and restart Windows Explorer to finish.
