Hello, just wanted to share my experience installing Ubuntu with W10 dualboot. I followed the tutorial step by step, but now I hit a roadblock—creating a home partition from unused space isn’t working as expected. The option is hidden or faded. What’s going on? Should I undo the setup and skip custom partitions, returning to the option of installing Ubuntu alongside Windows 10? Check the video for more details.

In such a setup it’s best to fill the root partition completely and avoid creating separate home partitions. This is because the limitation you’re facing likely stems from the MBR partition table, which restricts you to four main partitions.

I assumed that but wondered why there are three main partitions in W10.7. Is it possible to remove one, and which one should be deleted? Also, is a home partition necessary and why?

It looks like you're comparing your home directory setup to Windows file organization. Since you're getting into Linux, you might not need those separation features right away.

Check Microsoft Not if you wish Windows remains functional. You're not necessary; some prefer a separate home partition for backups and distrohopping, though I usually considered it just a hassle, particularly with limited storage. Stick to a single root partition and skip the extra stuff.
