I keep getting an error that says "BIOS/LEGACY BOOT OF UEFI-ONLY MEDIA." My SSD has a GPT, and my boot flash also has GPT UEFI. When I go to the Windows installer, it lets me pick my drive and fill in the line. But after resetting, this error comes back again. I tried booting directly from the SSD on the BIOS too, but the same problem happens there. The specs are an AMD R7 3700U or something similar with 24GB of RAM.

When sharing trouble to fix things, it is good practice to put all your system details in. Please write down what you have like this: CPU: CPU cooler: Motherboard: Ram: SSD/HDD: GPU: PSU: Chassis: OS: Monitor: Also tell me how old the power supply is if you can give just the age without making or model names. If you are using a laptop, say the brand and the specific number code of it.

It looks like the problem is because of that USB drive. Where did you get this one? Go here: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11 click the second link - Create win 11 installation media and it will download the tool to make a new Installer USB. Use it then.

I just got a small USB stick and downloaded the newest version of Windows from an online site, then used Rufus 4.2 to put it on that drive. Yes, you are right about something, but I don't know how AMD chipsets work here because this is my laptop: Asus FX 505 with a CPU of 3700u plus 24 GB of memory and a graphics card of 1650 GPU. It came with a big NVMe drive plus a 1 TB hard drive, but I took out the NVMe and changed it to a smaller one that holds 512 GB. Do you have any tips for me?

You would not choose to give yourself the answer if making a change with a program called media creation tool. This tool can fix both problems. Did you use those specific settings in Rufus? It seems like it saved the file as MBR when UEFI is better for you. If instead, you used that other tool, its installer has the power to handle either type of drive correctly.

I am pretty sure it's a GPT UEFI setting thing, and I picked those options on purpose. So that means you think it's a Rufus problem right? I've used Rufus for almost six years and have never had trouble making a bootable USB before.

It's not Rufus fault. You need a USB drive and turn on your computer in UEFI settings instead of Legacy Mode. The note about UEFI saying "USB Flash Drive Name" is listed before the text you're reading here.

do you know how to start a computer using a USB stick when it's set up in UEFI mode? right now this is what I'm doing: i press F2 to get into the BIOS, and then press F8 inside there to open the boot menu before choosing my flash drive.

Sure, send me a screenshot and I'll share it with you. Also, make sure the BIOS is set to UEFI mode before that happens.
