Hey, so I’ve basically downgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 11 on my new gaming laptop (MSI Thin GF63 12VF | i7-12650h, rtx 4060 variant) as I don’t like Windows 11 and then I thought I should use a custom windows like Ghostspectre or ReviOS to help with the laptop’s performance. Long story short, I broke my windows so when I tried reinstalling Windows again regardless if its fresh windows or custom, it says ‘A media driver your computer needs is missing, this could be a DVD, USB or a hard disk driver…’ Now, I’ve tried looking on MSI’s support page on the laptop for the driver and it simply seems to not exist on there. I’ve tried looking on different YouTube videos, websites and etc for this driver and every single one I’ve found that has been made to support 12th gen intel cpus has been incompatible with my system. Any time I try loading these drivers it says; ‘No new devices drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.’ Now it’s looking like there’s no way of getting windows back up and running on this system. Please can someone help as I’ve been trying to find a solution for several hours but nothing seems to help and I’m losing hope for this laptop? I’ll try anything just to get this laptop up and running again as I’ve only had it for less than a day. This can’t be happening.
Welcome to the forums, new person! I got reinstalled Windows over and over anyway, whether it was a brand-new copy or something custom made. The system keeps asking where I downloaded the software from, and how did I create that fake installer?
Make your own Win10 USB using the Microsoft tool and put it in your laptop to start it. Maybe you need to change your BIOS settings so the computer boots from the stick instead of the hard drive. Are you doing this right now? This driver stuff seems like a trap. I just don't know if you can activate Windows 10 with an activation key. It might be wrong.
I've tried using Windows Media Creation Tool to put Windows on a USB, but the installer files came from Revios or GhostSpecter and this problem keeps happening no matter what.
Yeah, I'm doing it just like that but I can't get to the step where I pick a drive or partition to install Windows because I need a special driver. I had this problem before on my PC and I had to download an Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to fix it, but I can't find the right one for my laptop since all the ones I see don't match. That leads to this error message: 'No new devices drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.' I also want to mention that this laptop came with Windows 11 pre-installed already.
On the setup screen where you see the old hard drive, just erase everything there. You'll then have free space on your first drive. Click next. After that click next, you probably shouldn't need to make any more clicks because Windows will make the other recovery drives on its own. Try a different USB stick; this error happens because the installer doesn't know how to handle your USB drive. The fix is to use another installation media, like a flash drive or a DVD. For more details, check out this guide: https://forums.
Turn off Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) in your BIOS settings. Download the Gigabyte tool that helps with installing drivers on computers with Intel chips. You can pick either option for Intel boards, but it doesn't really matter which one you choose. This tool is mostly meant for Windows 7, but the driver actually works fine with Windows 10 too. Open the utility or go to Service and Support, then find GIGABYTE Global at www.gigabyte.com. Extract the zip file from there. Move the folder labeled "WindowsImageTool\StorageControllers\Samsung_NVMe" into your Windows USB install drive. When you are starting up Windows, load that driver while installing it.
I don't have an Intel RST option set up in my BIOS. Also, the switch to turn on VMD controller is turned off or greyed out. I tried installing a driver you sent me but it still shows up as incompatible. After unchecking "hide incompatible drivers" and scrolling down, I tried to install the Samsung NVME controller driver but got the same error. The situation isn't looking great at all. You don't get the point, I know how to put windows on my computer. It's just that when I try to install windows from my usb stick, it keeps asking for a driver but there isn't one that works with my laptop. I've tried taking the installer out of intel's setup file and using another version from a similar laptop. Neither worked at all.
