Can't get the power going up on my graphics card
I use MSI afterburner and I can move the GPU core voltage slider around. But when I change it, nothing actually happens to the voltage reading in my monitor app. I'm using a GTX 1060 with an add-on card. Do I need to go into BIOS settings first to enable this? By the way, setting power limit, clock speed, and memory speed has worked perfectly for me at 116, 200, and 400 respectively.
The BIOS is set to 1.1 volts right now, though 1.09 might have been better before. You just need to turn up the power limit slider until you hit your maximum. If you keep turning that voltage slider all the way up, you won't see more than 1.1v even when the computer is under load.
To check this yourself, download a tool called GPU-Z and look at the OpenPnP sensors tab. See if it shows max voltage going under load. Your stock setting might be low, like 1.05 volts instead of 1.1, which means just pushing that slider up forces your BIOS to lock in 1.1v. You should be able to get up to a hard lock at 1.2v if you flash another version of the BIOS file, but that's risky. I recommend just maxing out the slider and being done with it.
Your power settings are stuck at about 1.1 volts, probably used to be 1.09 volts. Just move the power limit slider until it hits its maximum. If you push the voltage slider all the way up, your output only drops to 1.1 volts when it is working. Download a tool called GPU-Z or check the OpenSensors tab on your site to see if your voltage stays at that max level under load. Maybe your current settings are too low; for example, stock might show around 1.05 volts while you get stuck at 1.1 volts when you try to force higher numbers. If you flash a different BIOS file, you could reach up to 1.2 volts before hitting hard limits, but doing this carries risks. I'd just set the slider to its maximum and be done with it.
