Upon reviewing additional photos, it appears your RAM slots are located beneath that large dark patch in the center.

Yes, you should reinstall the metal block once you've placed the RAM stick.

i wouldn;t put the black thing back in. it's probably just a placeholder for the RAM slot. also, your laptop looks super strange to me. there's so much wasted space on the inside!
