It's not the settings. As I mentioned, everything functions smoothly when I'm moving freely without opponents. It only activates when I'm engaging in combat.

I can't remember if this was DS1 or DS2 but I remember a glitch where if you attacked, moved and rolled and/or blocked at the right time the system that queued up moves would go wonky and would queue up an attack but it wouldn't go off until you tried to roll or block. You wouldn't be able to attack but the second you tried to roll or block your character would then attack. I remember having the motions down to the point that I could reproduce the glitch quite regularly. There really isn't anything you can do about it, the best you can do it get a feel for the button combination that triggers the glitch so you can try to avoid that combination and recognize when you've accidently hit that combination in combat. Edit Something you can do is if this glitch is indeed what is causing your problems is you can move your character away from the enemy and then try rolling and blocking a couple times at a safe distance to try to trigger the queued attack. It is far from an ideal solution in the heat of battle but it is about the only thing you can do I'm afraid.

I noticed your concern. Are you attempting to improve your gameplay in Dark Souls by automating actions? Have you considered adjusting the right-hand button or exploring keyboard shortcuts?

I haven't attempted re-binding the attack button elsewhere. I'll check it out and inform you of the outcome.

It turned out the problem was that when loading your character, the game would freeze the double-click feature and then reactivate it even though it was disabled. You still couldn’t perform a powerful attack with a double click, but you’d still experience lag. This means I have to toggle it on and off each time I launch the game. At least the fix is in place.
