It seems you're dealing with an issue on a very old server motherboard. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to the forum and looked up documentation online for the board in question—specifically "8 ipxdrel-gg" or "8ipxdrel-gg." The problem starts when the system powers on, then it shows a series of beeps followed by pauses, and eventually the board fails to display anything. Additionally, I noticed that both CPUs are old Xeons, but one gets excessively hot while the other stays cool. I tried swapping them, but the hot CPU always stays in its socket. Here are some images for reference: [link 1] and [link 2]. I was thinking about using heatsinks before purchasing, but I want to test it first and turn it off immediately if needed.

This happens because the BIOS fails to boot, which means the other CPU isn't initialized. Only the first socket gets set up at that moment, helping keep the remaining one cooler.

Needed to review the image for accurate board identification. The part number seems correct based on the details. I'm certain this matches GA-8IPXDR-E (rev 1.0). Information comes from the official site: https://www.gigabyte.com/Server-Motherbo...-rev-10#ov. Beep codes were gathered from: https://warp9-systems.proboards.com/thre...llTo=37467. AMI Bios beep codes were referenced. There were several issues reported: a short DRAM refresh, memory parity errors, base memory failure, system timer malfunction, processor error, keyboard controller failure, CPU exception, BIOS checksum mismatch, cache error, video system problems, and display test failures. The repair steps suggest replacing the keyboard controller, fixing the CPU or motherboard issue, and addressing BIOS and memory checks.

The bios doesn't show any issues, so the concern might be related to a component on the board or a CPU fault. It could be something else entirely.

If the claim holds true, correcting it would be nearly impossible. A replacement for the controller seems unlikely to exist.

I'm not even sure you could source a keyboard controller to replace it. That, my friend, is above my skill level. (In short, it renders the board junk if not replacable) Now I was ninja'ed lol.

That's correct too. Replacing an outdated board would be challenging. Ooor I might just purchase another faulty one if I locate it. I'm hoping the issue isn't identical and then proceed with the replacement.

Ensure you're using a PS/2 keyboard, as that's likely the issue. Sidenote: it's not worth the power you're consuming with it...
