i've tried changing my internet address and moving to a totally different computer, yet it still won't work 😞
That modem is a combo unit using the model number you gave me. It's actually a modem/router that has Wi-Fi, for example. Your WAN IP might start with 100.x.y.z. This kind of address is called "carrier NAT." You'll need to call your internet provider to see if they let you request or buy a public IP before you can port forward. Why would you want to do that?
Before you start, make sure you are using a public IP address. Check the WAN IP on your router's status screen—it should be exactly like this: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If they don't match up, it means you don't have a public IP and can't do port forwarding because your internet provider has put their own router in front of yours, which stops traffic from going through.

It's a big deal... I wanted to move everything over and set up a new NextCloud server. After thinking about it more, I actually emailed their support team from my internet provider. They told me that the service is fully supported there, but they don't offer any help specifically for this thing.
