I recently enhanced my home network and initially considered Ubiquiti products, but after reviewing after-sales feedback, I explored alternatives. A lesser-known brand caught my attention: Canbium, a subsidiary of Motorola that produces networking equipment. At first, I doubted their capabilities, yet I decided to try Canbium’s E600 Access Points. Their key benefit lies in a 5-year warranty and the ability to manage the entire network without needing a controller. This was made possible through their cloud controller software, CnMaestro, which could also run on a local machine if you required many access points or preferred the full product range. Compared to other brands, Canbium offers superior throughput and more features at a lower cost. The E400 model is notably cheaper than Ubiquiti’s NanoHD while delivering better performance without needing a separate controller. When benchmarked, Canbium matches Cisco and Ruckus in features but stands out for being more compact and affordable. I strongly suggest trying Canbium Networks for both enterprise and residential setups. A standout feature is CnMaestro’s one-touch provisioning—simply scan the serial number on the box, and devices can be configured remotely. This simplifies off-site setup and management. In a 3,000 sqft home with metal-reinforced walls, two Canbium E600 units performed exceptionally well, covering the entire space with minimal speed loss (under 20% in tough conditions). The 4x4 MU-MIMO and 30dB power output, along with beamforming capabilities, make Canbium a compelling choice. I highly recommend it.
