the laptop is an f70sl model from asus. the bios doesn't allow me, but i think you can overclock it using software, although clockgen isn't working and i'm not sure where to find my pll. here are the details if that helps:
motherboard: f70sl
processor: intel mobile core 2 duo t7700 at 2.40 ghz
ram: 4gb ddr2 at 667mhz

You are not allowed to increase the speed beyond the manufacturer's specifications for that laptop and processor.

Don't worry about it - laptops are too hot and can't handle the extra warmth.

You're right, the laptop shouldn't have been used in that condition. It had a dual cooling setup with separate heatpipes for the CPU and GPU.

I get it, but even with a realistic character creation ability, the maker would have released it fully finished and promoted it heavily to highlight its impressive cooling performance.

Two heatpipes aren't always beneficial. I recall a laptop review where the two individual heatpipes underperformed compared to those with a single shared heatpipe.
