A few years back, I left my QNAP NAS somewhat exposed to the internet.
Well-protected with strong passwords, not running a public web server, just for external access.
It received numerous daily hits from all corners of the globe—everyone trying to get in.
Countries like Russia, China, Ohio, Switzerland, Poland, etc., were frequent targets.
No one actually managed to breach it.
I turned it off after a short time.
If there had been a real entry point, perhaps it could have expanded my local network.
