In theory it makes sense because everything uses x86. However, I haven't seen any real success or attempts yet. It seems like it wouldn't be worth the time given how affordable PS4s are now. Just purchase the actual console. The PS3 is special too—its architecture was so unusual that developers initially struggled, leading to inconsistent results.

Playing PS3 emulations is quite popular. However, I don't suggest it because these tools only support pirated content, not genuine discs. The PS4 isn't coming soon, but the method will likely remain unchanged.

Honestly, go for a PC or PS4 build in a fun setup with an HDMI switch if that's your goal.
