You can safely overclock your CPU to match the 0.7 GHz boost of the FX 8350 using the FX 8300 cooler.

sizzling :
125w CPU on that board? I have read threads where people are overheating the VRM's at stock speeds. Id expect any overclock to be very minimal before hitting throttling problems. Also that PSU is lowish quality but probably less of an issue than the motherboard.
My view is I wouldn't waste any money on a new cooler just to overclock. I just don't think you have the headroom.
yeah, 8300 only runs @95W ....
Since the thread talked about OCing a 8300 to have the same Clock Speed as 8350 do.

The FX8350 is a 4Ghz CPU with turbo boost up to 4.2Ghz, provided you achieve a stable OC of 5Ghz, I believe that will be near the maximum possible with good cooling. 7Ghz won’t work either; with that cooler you won’t be able to maintain acceptable temperatures at a low OC. You should definitely overclock the CPU, but invest in a quality air or AIO cooler—this Artic model is almost identical to the stock one. For Bulldozer and Piledriver CPU overclocking, this guide is recommended: http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-b...otherboard

What motherboard and power supply unit do you have? It's okay to avoid overclocking if these components aren't suitable. Also, the cooler isn't sufficient; you'll need a significantly better one.

Based on its dimensions, this cooler supports only 65W AMD CPUs, placing it in the mid-range to low-end category. The FX lineup generally features high TDP models. If you aim to overclock the 8300 (which draws 95W), some affordable coolers with budget-friendly prices can work, provided you use quality thermal paste or one that comes with the cooler.

Bequiet! Pure Rock Slim

Both options can achieve a 8300 base clock up to 4GHz, or potentially higher if Turbo Core is turned off.

What motherboard and power supply do you have? It doesn't matter if you're overclocking, as long as these components meet your needs. The cooler isn't sufficient either—you'll need something much better.

I don’t care about the motherboard or PSU if they can handle overclocking. The cooler isn’t great either, so I’d suggest something better.
Check out these options:

and

In my view, the ASUS board is fine as long as you manage the voltage properly.

125w CPU on that board? I've seen discussions about people overheating the VRM at stock speeds. I expect any overclocking would cause only minor issues before throttling occurs. Also, the PSU seems of average quality but likely less of a concern than the motherboard. My opinion is I wouldn't invest in an additional cooler just for overclocking. There doesn't seem to be enough room.
