i'm interested in understanding how overclocking a gpu works and trying it out myself. the power limit slider in msi afterburner has been a topic of interest since i began watching tutorials and researching overclocking. if i set the power limit to its maximum, will it affect the lifespan of my graphics card? could it lead to any hardware problems? i'm aiming to push my core clock as high as possible without adjusting the voltage, and it's believed that a higher power limit provides more room to increase core clock further, which should help boost fps. so, should i proceed?

Achieving maximum voltages depends on other system specifications. Voltages don't always harm GPU longevity, but if they exceed what your system can manage, it can cause excessive heat. This leads to temperatures above 70°C, which gradually reduces the lifespan.

Understanding how to boost your voltages depends on other system details. Voltages don<|pad|> can't always harm GPU life, but if they're too high for your setup, they can cause excessive heat. That heat eventually reduces lifespan, especially if it exceeds 70°C. I won't adjust my core voltage since changing it might affect GPU longevity, but I'm curious about setting the power limit slider. Can I do that?

Being able to boost your voltages to their peak depends on other system parameters. Voltages don’t always harm GPU longevity, but if they exceed what your system can manage, it can cause excessive heat. Temperatures above 70°C are a concern. I won’t adjust my core voltage since it might affect lifespan, but I’m curious about increasing the power limit slider. Yes, you can. The maximum is still determined by the manufacturer, so there’s no issue there. However, unless you change it manually, raising the power limit usually doesn’t improve clock speeds.
