You're experiencing performance issues with your current setup. The game runs smoothly at 60 FPS in open areas but struggles in cities, dropping to low 40s. You've adjusted settings and resolution without improvement. Consider checking GPU drivers, reducing background processes, or trying a different graphics card if possible.

The game runs poorly, it's unclear what to say to improve your experience with better performance.

Ubisoft is behind this project! It runs very well on powerful CPUs, but even with low graphics settings, it may crash on a system with only six cores.

Your processor is the main limiting factor. AC Odyssey demands a lot of CPU power. When running at 4.9 GHz, my 9700k performed at full capacity in city areas, but frame rates dropped to as low as 70 FPS. A strong CPU with multiple cores and threads is essential for smooth operation. This is why they suggested an i7 model. It isn't a major optimization issue. Considering the extensive details—draw calls, game logic, numerous NPCs, and high CPU needs—they likely believed cutting back would noticeably reduce performance and immersion. An i5 8400 is not ideal either, especially with low clock speeds.

check additional sources about your CPU utilization: the R7-1700 running at 3.8GHz reached around 70-75% load during a 1080p game, which means it didn’t trigger a shutdown.

Ensure your RAM operates at the optimal frequency. You might need to adjust it in the BIOS or activate XMP. There are some ideas that RAM speed can significantly influence performance in ACO. However, others note you're probably constrained by your CPU, and since the game demands many resources, overall performance may suffer.

I test the game on a 6-core CPU and it performed well. I played the hole mode at 4K resolution using an RTX 2080 Ti. It appears the game loads continuously during play, which makes me prefer avoiding it on a solid-state drive.
