I bought a Windows 10 retail key. Later, I used the free upgrade feature to get Windows 11 on it. Now I want to copy this key to a second computer or keep using it as is without buying something new. Will I still have access to both versions, or do I need to buy a brand-new license for each PC?

If your computer was linked to an email address, you can probably fix this by reusing the old account on a new PC. Microsoft says that after changing hardware, it's easier to reinstall Windows than just move the files around. If you only have one copy of Windows 10, making sure the installer matches that version is important so everything works correctly.

Are you asking for the license that comes with a fresh install of Windows on your brand-new computer, or do you mean the extra software key you need to put on the hard drive together with the operating system?

It's not certain that this will happen. Every piece of equipment usually needs a fresh operating system installed instead of just keeping the old one running. Everyone hopes for something better, but that won't always be true.
