Can you increase the speed beyond normal limits without adjusting the power supply?
I own an 8350 running at its standard settings, and I was wondering if it's possible to raise the clock speed from 4ghz to 4.2ghz without adjusting the voltage. I want to do this because my Gigabyte GA-78LMT motherboard advises against changing the voltage. I also plan to use the AMD OverDrive app since I'm unfamiliar with the process. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't change order on a board lacking good power phase and thermal design.
I wouldn't OC on a board with weak power phase and thermal design.
I overclocked to 4.2 and it's running at acceptable temperatures. Should I still lower the clock back to 4GHz? I'm open to your advice, just to avoid harming my CPU or motherboard.
