I checked the situation carefully. The clips appear to be quite delicate and may not withstand much heat.

Hot water will change the shape of plastic...lukewarm just helps take off dirt or oils, but not much more. You should be fine though—could you explain what you mean by "clips"?

I searched for them and found they're referred to as hinges.
Edit #2: hinge clips were suggested.

You won't turn off the scissor switches when removing the keyboard, otherwise it's risky to reinstall without adjusting the clips. Consider getting a new keyboard if the clips don't fit properly or if your keyboard behaves strangely after reassembly. Avoid using excessive force to take off the keycaps, especially if you haven't removed them yet.

But why not? There was all sorta gunk under, and I know how to do it. I can tamper with the clips too. Also, I put one back in with the key cap and everything, and it's acting normal. I try to apply a bit of force at the right spots, if I sense it's not going to come off, I just stop and adjust. Thanks for the warning!
