I ran my computer for about five hours yesterday, then left it alone. When I got back, it was completely dead and wouldn't turn on at all. The lights were blinking a few times right after I came home, but two hours later there were absolutely no lights coming from the PC. I ended up buying a new power supply because someone didn't have one to borrow from me. After that, all the lights came back on, but it still wouldn't boot up. I unplugged and re-plugged the cables, checked that my GPU was sitting in the right spot, and it's still not working even though I tried using a screwdriver to force it on. There are no motherboard beeps when I try starting it either. I attached some videos showing what I see while pressing the button to turn things on. https://imgur.com/a/Pw7Rjoo View: https://imgur.com/a/Pw7Rjoo Specs: CPU: Intel i7-9700 Mobo: ASUS ROG Z390 E gaming RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB ram 3200 MHz GPU: ASUS STRIX RTX 2070 Power Supply: EVGA 750 G3 750 Watt 80+ gold (Old) Corsair RM 850e (2025)

clear out your CMOS and change the battery. Did you plug in a monitor when you tested it? Can you get into BIOS mode now? Are all the power cables fresh from the PSU that's already installed and properly connected? Also check if the power cables on the PSU side are split correctly as well.

I just hit reset and put the battery back in and nothing happens. Even with the power button, the screwdriver trick, or the monitor connected to the motherboard, I can't get it to start up. Nothing is working at all.

swap out the old battery for a fresh one. Snap on some photos of your power supply and wires to show where things are.

Are there any other computers on the market that work well right now? Can I check them out myself? Or is there a neighborhood computer shop with solid reviews where someone could help me find something? Do you know any reliable folks who can spot problems in hardware?

That's not happening right now. It's just me trying it out for once, so there are no other options like this one. I'll have to take a trip somewhere else to find something similar.

I fixed the battery, but my computer is still not turning over. It just keeps blinking those lights like crazy. Here are some pictures showing me how I connected everything up so you can see it too. Check these links to the images of the cables and setup: https://imgur.com/a/kngFIu6 View them on this link: https://imgur.com/a/kngFIu6

Is the EPS 8-pin plug plugged into the computer's CPU on the top left side? These are wires coming from a brand-new power supply, right?

Cables were plugged in from the new PSU, and after testing, I think something went wrong with the motherboard. It looks like the USB port broke off on my case, sending electricity back inside the board, which created a short circuit.

Usually if something breaks off, you just take it out and everything goes back to normal.
