Hey! I've had Windows 10 as my computer for about two or three years. I'm not sure if I installed Java when I moved up from Windows 7 to 10. Now, I don't have Java and I can't even get it down on the site at java.com. When I open the .exe file, click yes on the warning, and keep going... nothing happens. I checked all the files. Is Java being stopped like Adobe Flash was, or is it still running? What's causing this? Are there special settings in Windows 10 that might be making this happen?

Do you need help installing Java? Make sure your computer meets the requirements for running Java, like what operating system it needs or how much memory it has. Try downloading a different file instead of the original one - maybe the installation got messed up in some way. If that fails again, check Reliability History and Event Viewer to find error codes, warnings, or messages related to this problem. Start by looking at Reliability History because it's easier for users and shows a clear timeline. You might also look into Update History just in case there are any important changes there.

I've tried every .exe file there is on the internet. Nothing happens. My computer just freezes up completely when I click it. A popup pops up from Microsoft saying something like "This program might mess with your PC" or a similar warning. I say yes, but nothing follows. At first, my arrow pointer shows that it's running (with that little spinning hourglass thing), and then everything stops dead.

I looked at my history logs and saw nothing about Java. Thanks anyway!

Reliability History and Event Viewer might not show "Java" directly because another program is being used instead. Check for events that match the dates and times when you tried to install Java. What setup method are you trying? For instance: https://phoenixnap.com/kb/install-java-windows

I got a little file named "jreblahblah.exe" from java.com and some other .exe files there. Are those other programs or games causing this problem? Was Java on my Windows install via updates before too, and has that changed things over the years?
