I was curious about whether a 1080p 144hz display would work with a 1440p 144hz monitor. Or is it limited to just 1440p 144hz?

You are able to adjust your game settings to any desired resolution, provided your display can handle it.

You have options for adjusting the monitor display or in-game resolution. I suggest configuring the in-game resolution to 1920x1080 within the game's graphics settings. Could you tell me what graphics card you're using and which games you're playing?

I'm causing some hesitation while I go through this since I'm reducing the resolution to 1/4.

similar to 3/4... 1080p at 4k would equate to 1/4

The recommended FPS at 1080p remains consistent. Consider testing 1440p resolution, though it may reduce performance compared to 1080p. If you're already using a 1080p display and contemplating a 1440p upgrade, you can mimic the experience via Nvidia's DSR feature. Access the Nvidia Control Panel, navigate to 3D settings, and turn on DSR factors. Under the Change Resolution section, choose 2560x1440 and observe the game's performance. This will provide insight into your graphics card's capabilities at 1440p.

At 1660Ti @ Medium configuration in 1080p, I achieve an average of 155+ fps. I’m currently using a LG 22MK600M 21.5 Inch Full HD IPS monitor and intend to purchase the LG 27GL850 27'' UltraGear™ Nano IPS 1ms Gaming Monitor with G-Sync compatibility.
